When I was probably to young and too sheltered to understand it, a friend of mine introduced me to the Kubrick masterpiece and cult jewel, ‘A Clockwork Orange’
. As those of you who have seen it and/or read the novel of the same name upon which it was based might guess, it had – shall we say – an impact. I became rather obsessed with the work in all its incarnations. Some years later, I came upon the American version of the book and read it. I then saw the stage adaptation at Steppenwolf Theatre. I dressed up as Alex for Halloween during my senior year of high school (I attended a Catholic all-boys school, mind you). In my first year of college, I found the British version of the novel with the final chapter that was cut from the American publication. I have written philosophy papers using the events of the novel to illustrate my points on the issue of free will. And now, I adapted one of the film’s most haunting images as a cutsied illustration for our Facebook App. My most sincere ‘appypolylogies’ to Mr. Kubrick and Mr. Burgess for what may be deemed a (poor?) parody of their triumphant works.
But hey! Check out our Facebook App! Refer your Facebook buds to Cinekin.com, rate some movies, and use our FB App to pick only the movies that you and your friends will definitely enjoy together! As it gets chillier out there, save some money and stay in for a rented movie or two!
And if you haven’t seen or read ‘A Clockwork Orange’, you’re missing out.
