Sacha Baron Cohen’s new movie received an NC-17 rating from the MPAA. Like “Borat”, the movie follows the adventures of a caricature, this time a flamboyantly gay man instead of a central asian anti-semite. I haven’t seen the movie, so I have no idea if it warranted the rating (supposedly due to nudity and gay sexual situations). What I do know is that I’ve seen some awful, awful violence in R-rated movies, and it’s sort of odd that sex seems to be judged more stringently than that.
Unless, of course, the MPAA itself was a victim of Bruno’s misadventures. In that case, I totally understand.
